Haven Yoga Meditation explains how often we should be practising Kundalini yoga to achieve the best results.
Kundalini is an ancient form of yoga that provides many incredible benefits – both physically and mentally* for men and women. However, if you are new to the Kundalini or are considering taking it up, you may be wondering how often you should be practising it. In this blog, we explain some key points about the practice:
The Purpose of Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini’s purpose is to awaken and harness the dormant energy that resides in the base of your spine. This energy is known as ‘Kundalini Energy’ – which provides heightened consciousness, increased self-awareness, and a profound personal transformation when awakened. Kundalini Yoga is an excellent way to encourage inner transformation, balancing the energy centres or chakras, and can lead to greater clarity and fulfilment in your life.
How Often Should You Practice Kundalini Yoga?
There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to how often you should practise Kundalini Yoga – this ultimately depends on your individual lifestyle and preferences. At Haven, we usually recommend that our yogis create a routine with their sessions, starting with at least one session a week. This can be increased to up to three to four sessions a week to maximise the above benefits. Consistency is key for Kundalini, so creating a routine and sticking to it is the most important step. A new kriya or meditation, when practised consecutively for 40 days, becomes embedded in the body and remembered in the brain.
How long will it take to experience the benefits?
You will likely experience benefits such as increased energy, better mental clarity, and emotional balance after just a few sessions. To continue to maximise the benefits and experience them long term, we advise practising consistently even if you can only manage one short kriya each day – the more you consistently practice, the more benefits you will achieve.
