Through regular practice, Yoga enables us to focus on the fusion of mind, body and spirit and offers us the greatest opportunity for healing and joy. Meditation is another practice, which is not only spiritually beneficial but has been scientifically proven to positively impact the brain and body!
At Haven Yoga, we offer personalised Therapeutic Yoga and Meditation programs which serve to alleviate specific areas or issues you wish to focus on, as well as improve everyday mindfulness. Through our personalised plans and focused sessions, we will refine areas of your diet, exercise and daily routine, which work to improve your gut health as well as your overall physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Our sessions are designed to help you get back on track to feeling your best, starting with two initial visits. In the first visit we will ask you to fill out a series of questions which gives us a background on your physical history, mental health and helps us to assess your gut I.Q.
What is Gut I.Q?
Your gut I.Q. is an index number based on your gut’s health, or intelligence. Based on a series of questions related to your feelings of wellness and energy, your gut I.Q will be a number which fits into one of three categories, with 1-20 points being a ‘smart gut’, or one that is working efficiently. However, many individuals struggle with unrest in their gut, or a malfunctioning one. The human gut is lined with more than 100 million nerve cells—it’s practically a brain unto itself.
And indeed, the gut actually talks to the brain, releasing hormones into the bloodstream that, over the course of about 10 minutes, tell us how hungry it is, or that we shouldn’t have eaten an entire pizza. But a new study reveals the gut has a much more direct connection to the brain through a neural circuit that allows it to transmit signals in mere seconds. The findings could lead to new treatments for obesity, eating disorders, and even depression and autism—all of which have been linked to a malfunctioning gut.
Our therapeutic sessions will allow you to develop an understanding of how external factors impact our internal gut processes, and how to correct any imbalances.
Some of the other questions in the onboarding process include:
- How can we help you best, what are your biggest concerns?
- How is your appetite, and energy levels?
- What are your goals for your sessions?
We will then address all these concerns and agree your goals in a personalised Gut Health and Yoga Therapy Meditation plan. We develop guided meditation and personalised yoga plans as part of a daily routine.
Our second session, which takes place two weeks after designing the initial plan, will focus on teaching you the asanas (physical postures) as well as the specific breathing and meditation exercises useful to you. In no time you will be feeling rejuvenated and more alive.
