Haven Yoga and Meditation share an insight into Kundalini Yoga.
Kundalini yoga is a form of yoga that involves different postures and postural locks, movements, and breathing to awaken the power and potential of our internal energy.
Where does it come from?
Kundalini, meaning ‘coiled snake’ in Sanskrit, is an ancient form of yoga that is used to unlock or ‘uncoil’ the evolutionary energy deep within us. In its beginnings, it was based upon the study of spirituality and scientific energy. It was used to help the connections between our minds and bodies reach their highest potential, and to channel and awaken energies through our spine. Originating in India, Kundalini is one of the most sacred forms of yoga, dating back to around 1,000BC.
What does it do?
The purpose and technology of Kundalini yoga is to activate the mental, perceptual, and feeling faculties of our physical self. Kundalini yoga uses specific movements, postures, meditative and breathing techniques to help unknot our energy by pulling it up through the base of the spine, through the top of the crown and out, helping to improve the balance of the energy within our bodies.
How can Kundalini help us?
Like other forms of yoga and meditation, Kundalini uses breathing methods, such as long and deep breathing, to expand the stomach and promote mind and body relaxation. This practice is great for everyday physical and mental wellbeing and awareness. Kundalini is also a much more spiritual experience than other forms of yoga, so can be quite an amazing and new exercise for those who are interested in trying out something different, or for those who are already passionate about spirituality.
