Why Do Meditation?

In the modern world, we not only want to manage our stress levels and work/life balance but also increasingly want more meaning in what we do.

  • Why do we make poor decisions or sometimes seem not as smart as we thought we were?
  • How can we perform at our best?
  • How can we be at peace in an often difficult world?
  • How can we improve our relationships with others?

To create a strong sense of self-worth and a sustainable feeling of internal peace, the ability to embrace empathy and compassion is super important. This sense of compassion, humility, and selflessness can come from mindfulness and self-care rather than self-sacrifice or martyrdom.

What is Mindfulness?

Our mind is constantly complaining, comparing, judging, commenting, speculating. Yet, most of us are unaware of the incessant mental noise and certainly don’t have an “off” switch for our minds. Meditation helps us become present with our thoughts, and allows us to practice letting the thoughts be there, without judgement and without trying to control them. Whenever we are able to observe the mind and the thoughts, we are no longer trapped in them, we can be separate from them, allowing them to come and more importantly, go. We consider, if we are not our thoughts, then who are we?

Meditation and Our Relationships

Meditation not only works at an individual level to encourage mind and body health and wellbeing but also encourages healthy relationships through a deep understanding of compassion. Compassion means “to suffer together” and can be defined as the feeling that arises when you are confronted with another’s suffering and yet, feel motivated to relieve that suffering. Compassion is not the same as empathy, though the concepts are related. An ability to hold space for another, to be present in the moment within every conversation and interaction, enables a relationship to transform in a completely new way. We offer regular mediation classes and also private sessions. Check out our Corporate Yoga and Meditation service and our 6 Session Meditation Course now!
